At the beginning of this year I was invited to sponsor the 2017 annual Miss High School Beauty Pageant in Hungary by dressing the finalist for the evening dress round and for the coronation. I have spent months to finalise the designs and choose to use a very beautiful bright coloured fabric as a base of all the dresses and create some movement and interesting details by using blush pink tulle and sparkly crystals and sequins. The whole sewing process took me like 70-80 hours for the 12 dresses, although at the end we only use 6 of them as the organisers forgot to tell me that these dresses will be worn only by the final 6 contestants. Never mind, I will have some new stunning pageant dresses to offer for you as soon as we got the commercial photoshoot done with them :D
The event was hold just outside of Budapest in a very beautiful town, called Szentendre. I travelled there 1 day before to allow time for me to set up and have a bit of look around in the area, although as it was 44 degree outside it was really hard to walk around and just enjoy sightseeing as the heat was unbearable, even for me. So we only took some time to take pictures of the dresses with my friends as the place where we stayed had a really beautiful backyard.
The next day we had a really early start, preparing the girls for the event and wrapping up all before the heat starts, so we could have a nice photoshoot with the contestants as well. The first round was the streetwear, where the girls we walking on the stage in their normal everyday clothing, introducing themselves, talking about their hobbies and interests. The second round was the swimwear which followed by the evening dress round, where the girls rocked the stage in my fresh new pageant designs. The queen was awarded with the dress she worn and she looked so stunning in it (obviously as she just become a queen :D )
Overall it was an interesting event, my first pageant, my first time as a pageant judge and the first time getting recognised as a more known designer in my country, so it was a great experience. Let`s have a look on the stunning Queen and Princesses of Miss High School Beauty Pageant 2017 Hungary.
Last weekend we attended on Fashion Show LIVE at Luton Carnival Art`s Centre.
I have to say it was a quite good event. For the organisers this was their first ever fashion show, therefore I do not really want to say anything negative, as for a first show It was quite enjoyable. Although I think it was much more fun as a visitor than as a designer, because I had to face some problems what usually does not occur. Fortunatelly the visitors didn`t really know about any of these problems at all.
The stage and the atmosphere was amazing. I loved how they prepared the stage and the the whole room for the event as that truly looked luxurious and as a plus, we even got a cake to celebrate at the end, a very delicious one :) They put a lot of effort to make the whole venue look stunning. I loved the balloons at the entrance, the photobox, the catering, the cake, the whole venue was perfect!
Have a look on the event`s Fbook page and get to know them :) https://www.facebook.com/FSLACADEMY/?pnref=lhc
I have been very busy lately and I had no chance to write a new post, therefore this one is in a bit of late. So on the 1st of July I was attended on Wasted Chic`s Designer Takeover event at London`s Old Spitalfield Market. I was very busy creating my display for this event, everything I did by my own pair of hands, so very proud :D I did my display for rings, chokers, mirror, shop name, and curtains and table clothing. Sooo many things.... I spent days and nights working on everything to make is colourful, vibrant and customer friendly. And then come the trouble.... How all these things gonna be taken to the location???? Well, as I don`t drive and basically I don`t have any friends in London who drives and because I live quite outside of London, just to get a cab would have costed a fortune sooo we had to take everything on public transport with my boyfriend`s help,Although this was very difficult even with his help....So anyway, we got to the location Finally! It took some time to find my stall and prepare the stalls, but we opened at 11am. I was so proud how the stall looked and I managed to prepare with all my new items in time, so by 11 am we were ready to start selling :)
To be honest, I was a bit disapointed, as not many people come to the market and it should have been very busy as It was a Saturday, and the weather was perfect for a day out in a market. Even the people who come they were just walking around the stalls, sometimes not even having a look on any of them just walking and talking to friends....I have done a few markets and my experience says that people not interested in going to a market and shop there anymore, or If they do, they only looking for the food XD Sad but True... people do not really buy at these places as It was not just me who felt it this way, we had a conversation with some of the other exhibitors and they had the same thoughts. So guys, please tell me, where do you prefer shopping handmade, original designer items?? Should I just stay with Etsy and my online Shop....?
Well, I think most of the people are really busy and they just do not have the time to go out just to shop and look for the perfect designer items for hours, as when they go out, they just prefer spending time with their friends and family and do the shopping online. (Which I totally understand.) I do not think that people are so worried about fittings any more as If the items what they ordered online do not fit them, they just send it back to the seller straight away as we always accept returns, Am I right?
Well, Anyway, we always learn, and this time I learnt, that Fashion Shows and Online Shopping has a bigger impact on customers and I am not sure If I ever gonna do an other market event, although I might would give a try to a Christmas one as well.... Let`s See :)
New summer dresses and chokers added for sale in my Online shop I have been very busy lately and had tons of photoshoots (just to mention I had 3 this week) and I still don't have pictures of all the new items I created
You know, being an emerging designer, with not having thousands of pounds income, I had to learn to make the most of my possibilities. I tought myself how to model, how to pose, how to do make up, how to do hair and I even tought my boyfriend how to take fashion pictures using only his phone, not an actual professional camera. We made such a great team, that my favoruite pictures are the ones taken by him using his phone. When It is not possible to get a professional`s help and you do not have endless possibilities, that is the time when you are forced to learn new skills and develope yourself. This is what we have been doing for 5 years now, and I can say, our work gets better and better everytime. Do not give up, just keep learning and keep fighting for your dreams!:)
So this is what Budapest Fashion Week was: This was my first individual fashion show in my home country and I felt so blessed as I got such a nice respond from everyone. Before this show, I have never sold anything immediately from the runway, but this time, some people felt in love with some designs that I had to sell my original sample pieces just after the show. How amazing is this?!
This collection is very personal for me and It helped me to start a healing process in a very rough time of my life. This collection, called Eleven, dedicated to my father, who I lost meanwhile working on my designs. The fact, that people loved it so much and all the good comments I got, helps me a lot and I really appreciate it.
So far, this fashion week was the smallest, friendliest and calmest show I ever had, which felt quite weird after all the craziness of the London shows, where everyone was rushing and tearing garments and usually have 30 seconds to change outfits on models. This time we all were so chilled and calm, plus we had more than 5 minutes to change the models with 4 helpers and they were extremely helpful.
With this post, I would like to say a huge Thank You to the whole team, to the organizers, photographers, models, my friends and my family, you are amazing!
Finally fashion week is done :) I was too busy to post an update about the preparations because I was sewing untill the very last minute.
I started working on my 'Eleven' Resort Collection in January but I had to put it on hold for a while. I started finishing the last 5 looks in March and I had to finish the collection in our Hungarian studio based in my hometown. The last two weeks were really really busy, but I enjoyed every moment of it. In this post I wanted to share some moments of the preparations and introduce my Hungarian workspace and let you have a look of how I was working on the new pieces. Enjoy :*
We had a random, unplanned photoshoot this week. I had a last minute idea of some stunning Chokers and I just had to have them ready asap and show them to you guys. This was so random that I even had to do the modeling, make up, hair and photoshooting by myself. This is how you do multitasking :) I am proud of myself, although next time I would love to have my amazing team helping me out, but as you can see, there is nothing what can not be done by yourself. Let`s see some of these photos. :*
